Jean-Baptiste André Godin put Charles Fourier's ideas for community living into practice, building palatial collective housing for the workers at his factory.
The "Familistère de Guise" was a housing project created by Jean-Baptiste-André Godin for 1800 inhabitants. It was designed in order to lead a huge, utopian and audacious social experiment. It still interests historians, sociologists, economists, urban planners and architects.
