In the Swiss canton of Uri, farmers maintain an acrobatic tradition: haymaking. For centuries, every August, they have been mowing the grass that will feed their animals on the particularly steep slopes of the Alps, above Lake Lucerne.

It is a dangerous undertaking that requires physical fitness, self-confidence and balance. This ancient practice has many advantages: the fodder obtained is particularly healthy for the animals, regular mowing prevents overgrowth and also protects against avalanches. These wild hay meadows, affectionately known as "Wildi" (from wild in German), are full of nutrient-rich grasses and flowers.
A journey into the heart of a Swiss farming tradition, against a backdrop of spectacular mountain scenery.
