Savita Diana Wagner fought as a German volunteer medic for almost two years on the front line in Ukraine. She died there on front on 31 January 2024. This is her story.

Nahida Choobi, her husband Ahmad and their children Mohamed and Mariam are once again displaced by the war. Their village of Naqoura, two kilometres from Israel was one of the first to be bombed by their southern neighbour in October 2023 and then razed to the ground in 2024, has been evacuated again.

One of the oldest conflicts in the world has flared up again since 2020: the conflict between the Sahrawi People's Liberation Army (SPLA) and Morocco. Morocco controls 80% of Western Sahara, where the mineral deposits and fish-rich waters are located, and the Sahrawi people want the Moroccans out.

The peaceful town of Prince George in the Canadian province of British Columbia often receives unwanted visitors from the surrounding forest: Bears, 140,000 of which live in the province, are increasingly coming into town to search for food. What to do with them divides opinion. Some see them as dangerous animals that need to be ejected from urban areas, and even shot if necessary, others argue that bears are not dangerous and humans need to coexist better with them.

Après des années de silence, les cloches des églises sonnent de nouveau à Mossoul. Dix ans après la chute de Daesh, la ville aux minarets, proclamée capitale du califat en Irak, renaît lentement de ses cendres.

Les églises Al-Tahira et Mar Toma, symboles du christianisme oriental détruit par l’État islamique, viennent de rouvrir leurs portes après une longue restauration. Dans leurs murs reconstruits, la ferveur renaît mais la communauté, elle, reste clairsemée. La plupart des chrétiens ont quitté la ville, fuyant la peur, la pauvreté et la nostalgie. Avant 2003, Mossoul comptait près de 50 000 chrétiens. Aujourd’hui, la plupart des chrétiens ont quitté la ville : où seule une poignée d’entre eux subsiste. Les autres ont fui vers le Kurdistan irakien et l’Occident.
À travers les voix de ceux qui sont restés et de ceux qui ont choisi l’exil au Kurdistan tout proche, ce reportage interroge le sens du retour : ces églises rebâties annoncent-elles une renaissance ou marquent-elles les adieux définitifs d’une communauté, tiraillée entre déracinement et espoir, à sa ville ? Les chrétiens reviendront-ils un jour ?
