  • IN BORIS JOHNSON’S MIND

No one took him seriously; he was seen as a buffoon. Yet he was on the winning side with Brexit in 2016 and then triumphed in the December 2019 legislative elections.

Boris Johnson is the UK's new strongman. And he is radically altering his country, leaving an indelible mark on it – for better or for worse. The British people and Europe's future for the next ten years hang on to this eccentric sad clown's decisions.
With the COVID-19 pandemic, the United Kingdom is facing a major crisis on its own, without the European Union’s help, for the first time. Boris Johnson was hit directly by this crisis, spending a week in hospital in a critical condition. The other twenty-seven watch on as the first country to get out of the union is carving its own path – all while the terms of the divorce with the EU are not even negotiated yet.
In 2020, in addition to the coronavirus crisis, the Prime Minister will have to square up against Brussels, pour oil on troubled waters regarding the Scottish and Irish desires for independence and obtain a free trade agreement with Donald Trump. He will have to pick his poison: alienating the EU by toddling into America's lap or, on the contrary, tread carefully around his European allies. These decisions will bind the UK and Europe for decades to come.
Behind his veil of buffoonery, will Boris Johnson embrace the stature that befits a statesman or lead his country to disaster? At heart, is he the United Kingdom's gravedigger? Or is he a restorer of British greatness?

Very much in demand in recent years, Portugal has become the preferred destination for French people who wish to settle or invest in another European country, due to its proximity to France, good weather, a cost of living 30% lower than in France, friendly inhabitants, a good economic dynamism...

This is the story of a small country that has known ups and downs: a great colonial power that fell from grace in the West before undergoing a rebirth today (although, as we will see, it is not as straightforward). Portugal: a small European country that has always dreamed bigger than its borders.

For the most optimistic, the daunting task of electrifying the African continent will perhaps be solved by leapfrogging: in other words, Africa would go directly to the stage of mobile telephony and renewable energies without going through the hassle of power lines.

In the meantime, inequalities in access to electricity remain glaring, as does the inability of states to ensure this public service mission. As a result, individual resourcefulness and equipment are invaluable. Over the last decade, however, there has been no shortage of projects and determination to electrify Africa.

In February 2020, Italy was the first country in Europe which Covid 19 swept across.

And by February, it had already confined eleven northern municipalities, several days ahead of its neighbors. Within the European Union, Italy is often a “laboratory” of sorts, a country in the vanguard, especially in the political arena: thus pre-war fascism, but also the formula of post-war Christian democracy as well as the most recent waves of populism were developed in Italy. In the words of Italian historian Marc Lazar, this country acts as a “seismograph”, “recording the first signs of the quakes” that will then shake the continent.

    COFFEE: SUCH A LONG JOURNEY

Legend has it that the origins of coffee lie in Ethiopia: a shepherd discovered its exciting virtues in the 8th century, as one of his goats began to leap after eating the fruit of a coffee tree.

Even today, coffee is still at the heart of the Ethiopian economy, but it has also conquered the entire world since then. It is one of the most telling examples of a staple globalized product. Yet coffee has one characteristic that sets it apart: the regions of the world where it is most consumed are not necessarily those that produce it. Coffee is a globalized industry that unequally enriches those who work in it, from small producers in the South to coffee pod professionals in the North.

From the American preparations to the capture of Saddam Hussein, this documentary takes a fresh look at the invasion of Iraq through the accounts of Iraqis.

From previously unaired accounts of Iraqis, including former soldiers and leaders, civilians, future insurgents, journalists and opponents in exile, the film retraces, in minute detail, the critical year of the invasion, with as its counterpoint, the tales of members of the US military and reporters who were present during the intervention.

In these previously unaired images, we discover US military operations from the inside, but also - and more importantly - scenes of splendour of a dictatorship caught up in lies and unprepared for war.

By counterbalancing the official media scenario put forward by the Americans, this documentary provides an understanding of how, from an easy war in the face of a depleted country, the United States found themselves entangled in a civilian insurrection led by a disillusioned people, who they did not even attempt to understand and who they drove to revolt.

A documentary thriller about one of the world’s most profitable illegal trades: Rhinoceros horn. At 50,000 euros per kilo, it sells for a higher price than gold or cocaine... When crushed into a powder and mixed with alcohol, it is said to be a miracle cure.

Trafficking has spread to all continents and threatens the biodiversity of our planet, along with the national and economic security of multiple countries.
This investigation reveals the underside of this high-stakes battle to save the rhinoceros and how – all around the world – detectives, scientists and police officers sometimes risk their lives to take on the criminals behind this trade. Using methods straight out of a spy novel, they track suspects and infiltrate the sophisticated crime gangs who threaten the species with extinction.
