10 years after the fall of Saddam Hussein’s regime, who still takes an interest in Iraq? The country is barely getting over the dark years of the civil war between Shiite and Sunni communities.

The State has undergone a reorganisation: banks and real-estate projects have sprung up thanks to oil money but attacks are still an almost daily feature of life and have claimed more than 100,000 civilian victims over the last 10 years. It is the first time she has returned to the Iraqi capital since she was taken away 8 years ago and since her exile to Jordan with her family. What kind of Iraq will she rediscover?
