The village of Meychrey on Cambodia's Lake Tonle Sap has completely disconnected itself from the underground.

People here live in floating houses in rhythm with the rainy and dry seasons. They move with the changing water level. After the whole village was dragged to-wards a temple that stands on an island during the rainy season, it now goes back during the dry season. Because the water is now draining away again. The houses have to go back out onto the receding lake and into canals that carry water all year round. Otherwise everything would be stuck in the mud, along with the boats. There are no roads here at all. For the way of life of the people of Meychrey, permanent access to water is the most important prere-quisite. There are many challenges and problems.
