The Greek crisis played out like a real-life, European, summer soap opera. After a series of stormy negotiations, Greece has now salvaged its place in the Eurozone, at the expense of new austerity measures.

What will this mean for the Greeks? Arte Reports headed to the small city of Arta, in the region of Epirus in North West Greece. Arta, located in a rural and agricultural region, has a population of 43,000 and an unemployment rate of 25%. In a country in crisis, how do people go about finding housing and work? What sort of lives do they lead? In Arta, far from the tourist islands and far from Athens, people get by as best they can.
Arte Reportage followed a pensioner, a municipal worker, a farmer, an unemployed woman and a café owner in their day-to-day lives, which involve renouncement and sacrifice. A series of portraits in a city where appearances can be deceptive.
