As children, Johnny and Luther Htoo were invincible - at any rate, according to the soldiers of “God’s Army”, the Karen ethnic group fighting the Myanmar army, led by the 12-year old twins.

Today, Johnny and Luther are aged 27, and their hour of glory is well behind them. Their respective paths echo the fate of the ethnic minorities who dared to take on the Myanmar government. Luther has lived in Sweden for 6 years. Although the separation from his family and the difficulties he faces in integrating have become a burden, his exile has given him a taste of freedom, and has enabled him to study, work and acquire a semblance of stability. Johnny, on the other hand, did not obtain a visa for a foreign country. He is stuck in a camp on the border between Thailand and Myanmar (also known as Burma).
Despite their radically different lives, Johnny and Luther are still both strongly committed to defending their minority’s rights.
A few weeks away from the Myanmese elections in November 2015, Luther has doubts: will be reconnect with a form of Karen activism, or continue his efforts at integrating in Sweden?
