USSR 1967 – the famous photographer was mandated to cover the fiftieth anniversary of this major event of the twentieth century… Robert Doisneau was sent in the Soviet Union by “La Vie Ouvrière”, the CGT (General Confederation of Labor) union’s newspaper – the union was then very favorable to the Soviet regime.

In 2017, Vladimir Vasak – the film’s director – visited Robert Doisneau’s studio. With Francine Deroudille – one of the photographer’s daughters – they revisited the images of 1967. Driven by an urge to understand modern day Russia, he attempted to comprehend it in light of Robert Doisneau’s work.
