Samvel and Avo, two Armenian children born in Nagorno-Karabakh, are only ten. Yet they are already caught up in the sufferings of the war between their small, unrecognized republic and Azerbaijan.

Shot between January and November 2020, the report follows the lives of these two little boys from Talish, a mountain village that was trying to come back to life, in the shadow of a forgotten conflict. After having already been bombed in 2016 and forced into four years of exile, the children and their families had just resettled in their home village, in new houses. But Talish is only a few kilometers from the border with Azerbaijan. War broke out at the end of September, the village was bombed and conquered by Azerbaijani forces.

The two classmates and their parents’ lives dramatically illustrate the locals’ destinies – whose fate turned upside down in the space of a few months. Women and children flee to Yerevan where they find refuge with other tens of thousands of exiles. The men, for their part, leave for the front. Samvel and Avo start their young lives with the weight of this heritage and crushed hopes.
