Their lives changed in a matter of hours. They lost everything, left everything behind. Doctors, middle class, students and peasants, the Tigrayans were driven from their homes by a war that pitted their regional authorities against the Ethiopian national army.
Charles Emptaz and Olivier Jobard followed their journey upon their arrival in Sudan, the neighboring country that welcomed them as refugees. Dr. Tewodros has been separated from his family. He has found his feet at the Red Cross dispensary. He is still trying to make the best of a bad situation. Yarid and Saba are a young couple; they try to make their daily life tolerable. Yarid, the far-sighted math teacher, has managed to bring a bed, a television set and a number of small items with him to improve his everyday life during his exodus. With all their belongings, they will have to start a second journey, this time to the desert, where the Sudanese authorities have planned to send them.
