At the beginning of the 20th century, Sri Lanka was still called Ceylon and belonged to the British colonial Empire. In the south of the island, the jungle expands with all mysteries it contains. This land, governed by forces of nature, was discovered by the writer and essayist Leonard Woolf in 1904.

He is not yet the famous Virginia’s husband, but an intellectual propelled judge of the colonial administration. He will draw a work from this bewitching experience: “Village in the Jungle.”
