In Central America, Panama stretches its territory between two seas. On its Caribbean coast, the city of Portobelo emerged from the jungle in the 16th century and prospered thanks to the slave trade.
These slaves of African origin will erect the buildings of the city and develop a unique culture, a mixture of their roots and local traditions: the Congo culture. It continues today through dances and carnival.
