In the Caribbean, the natural landscapes of Martinique would almost let us forget its cities. The writer Patrick Chamoiseau tells about his island through the city. In his novel Texaco, 1992 Goncourt Prize, he traces the history of a black Martinican family over 150 years.

The family leaves the plantation to settle in this district of Fort-de-France. And with this exile, it unveils a new definition of a mixed city, marked by rural solidarity.
