In the meanders of Moscow, away from the churches sporting golden onion domes and the Stalin-era skyscrapers, a particular architecture is hidden: that of the Russian avant-garde of the 1920s. 

This new trend was called constructivism; in it, aesthetics is above all at the service of function. These buildings, with their horizontal, uncluttered format and dynamic lines structuring their facades, were designed to meet the new expectations of the young communist state.
