Legend has it that the origins of coffee lie in Ethiopia: a shepherd discovered its exciting virtues in the 8th century, as one of his goats began to leap after eating the fruit of a coffee tree.

Even today, coffee is still at the heart of the Ethiopian economy, but it has also conquered the entire world since then. It is one of the most telling examples of a staple globalized product. Yet coffee has one characteristic that sets it apart: the regions of the world where it is most consumed are not necessarily those that produce it. Coffee is a globalized industry that unequally enriches those who work in it, from small producers in the South to coffee pod professionals in the North.
