At first glance, it looks like a painting of an imaginary landscape, straight out of the imagination of an artist who imagines life on another world. But hidden in the heart of the Philippines archipelago, on the tenth largest island, with its 4100km², Bohol is a geological jewel with multiple particularities.
Trophée Or at the Deauville Green Awards in the ecotourism and sustainable travel category
Covered with green grass, the hills turn "chocolate brown" during the dry season (December to May), which contrasts sharply with the bright green of the surrounding rainforest. This makes for a fabulous landscape.
Bohol also abounds in a very diversified flora and fauna because of its geological and tectonic history. We can find some of the last representatives of rare species such as the colugo, a flying lemur, hovering from tree to tree to feed on young shoots and fruit. The giant golden-crowned flying fox, the largest bat in the world, with its wingspan of over 1.50m. Or the Bohol sunbird, a passerine bird that feeds on flower nectar. But unfortunately, scientists also believe that the fauna and flora of the archipelago are now seriously threatened.
