Paul Cézanne was born in Provence and endlessly painted its rich colors. Despite not being appreciated in his homeland, he found comfort and inspiration in the Provençal countryside. 

“While I’m alive, a Paul Cézanne painting will never hang in the museum of Aix-en-Provence,” the museum’s director at the time vowed.
