In the south of Sardinia, a medieval port rises from the Mediterranean sea, Cagliari. For D.H. Lawrence, in 1921, this city was the gateway to the harsh beauty of the Italian island. He had come here to unwind but the British author wound up discovering an atmosphere beyond time and falling under the spell of the Sardinian hills.

From his experience, he wrote a travel account: "Sardinia and the Mediterranean", which sowed the seeds of his masterpiece "Lady Chatterley's Lover".
