THE VANISHING LADY
France 1896

A magician removes a dozen eggs from the mouth of his assistant. He cracks them into a
hat, beats them as if to make an omelette, and takes out an egg as big as the hat. He
barely places the egg on the table when a miniscule woman appears, full of life and no
bigger than a puppet. She begins to perform a lovely series of dance steps. All of a
sudden, her body grows into the size of a normal person. She jumps up and charms the
audience with her rapid change. Then, the magician and dancer disappear in the most
extraordinary way.
