The Kea parrot is not particularly well known in New Zealand. For a long time, shepherds hunted the parrot as it had a bad reputation for attacking sheep, and so it took refuge in the mountains, successfully readapting to a much harsher Alpine climate.
The Kea is the world’s only mountain parrot. It is studied for its rare and extraordinary intellectual capacities among animal kingdom inhabitants. Guillaume Mazille sets out to meet groups of Kea to observe their social behaviour in the absence of human interaction. He intends to photograph them in a group, interacting among themselves, with stunning mountain ranges in the background.
