Despite the terrible experiences of the Milosevic years, when democracy was restored in Serbia in 2000, the people of Belgrade were luke-warm about the European future on offer to them.

Despite the terrible experiences of the Milosevic years, when democracy was restored in Serbia in 2000, the people of Belgrade were luke-warm about the European future on offer to them. This episode of Cityscapes reveals a city whose scars have not yet healed. It will probably take years for Belgrade to recover from the psychological damage inflicted on it. Yet the film also reveals a city that is full of energy and zest for living - a city where you sense people's sheer happiness to be getting on with their lives, now that the war is over, and the extraordinary strength of their desire to have something to dream about once again.
