With his grizzled moustache and chiselled features, Charles Bronson is the embodiment of a slightly archaic, brooding and almost reactionary virility. But who is he really?

Often hired to play marginalised Native American or Mexican characters before he was typecast as the image of a lone killer, Bronson was a major figure in the popular cinema of the 1960s and 70s and his stony-faced, physical acting and career are worthy of a second look.

Julie Andrews starred in Hollywood productions that have become iconic movies, winning an Oscar for her performance as Mary Poppins, a symbol of the magic of musicals from the 1960s.

And yet, behind the squeaky-clean image hides a much more tortuous career, with its moments of glory and tough times, all of which explain the longevity of a story that is still being written.

For the first time, one of Hollywood’s greatest stars tells his own story, in his own words. From a childhood of poverty to global fame, Cary Grant, the ultimate self-made star, explores his own screen image and what it took to create it.

Cary Grant is one of the most enduring icons of the Hollywood golden era. Described by the film historian and biographer David Thomson as the greatest screen actor of all time, Grant is without doubt the actor whose style as the suave and elegant man-in-the-suit has remained iconic and modern: his image is still used in advertising and inspired Don Draper in Mad Men.

This fascinating portrait is for anyone who wants to know more about the man behind the mask. By the end of the film, you will view this famous French icon in a totally different light.  Delon speaks in a series of surprising interviews, spanning nearly 50 years.

A portrait of Alain Delon that sets out to remove the masks of this defence-ridden, international icon - for the very first time. The portrait focuses entirely on its main subject - it is “pure Delon”, with no other interviewees. Via numerous film excerpts, it follows the actor’s path right from the start. At the end of this breathtaking journey, a new vision emerges: Alain Delon, the man of 87 movies and the most handsome face in French cinema, remains a mystery.

The word "Borsalino" today designates a felt hat. The Borsalino family brand has become a household name, like that of Tupperware, Kleenex or Walkman.

The quality felt hat, born in a small family factory in Alessandria in the 1850s, rose in status from manufactured object to veritable international myth when the craftsmanship of a small provincial town met the Hollywood dream. This film recounts the history of the manufacture of this myth, which has close ties to the history of cinema in the early 20th century.

We may think that everything has been said about the great Alfred, but what do we really know about the man behind the director? Through the intimate, gentle and critical eyes of his wife and collaborator, Alma, this film will allow us to discover Hitchcock anew, between darkness and light.

Alfred Hitchcock is known as a giant of moviemaking, a facetious master of suspense, obsessed with blond heroines in peril, with the reputation of being tyrannical towards his actors.
But who knows the real Hitchcock? During his last public appearance, “Hitch” paid tribute to the wife, mother, co-writer, editor and partner of a lifetime that was Alma Reville Hitchcock. The two Hitchcock were inseparable, engineering the unquestionable masterpieces together. Their genuine collaboration never stopped from the day they met until the end of their lives. It’s in light of this fusional relationship that this film will revisit and shed fresh light on the legend. But there is no light without shadow and Alma’s voice will also reveal Hitch’s dark side, his contradictions and flaws, which come together to make the myth.
We will explore the role played by women throughout the director’s career. Alma’s role of course – his “most demanding critic,” and brightest too – but also the stars and collaborators who played a part in his work’s progression. At a time when harassment in the world of moviemaking is a major talking point, we will also look afresh at Hitchcock’s sometimes controversial relationships with his actresses.

This film recounts the colorful career of the last tycoon of Hollywood’s Golden Age and explores the turbulent but creatively rewarding relationships between Spiegel and Hollywood giants John Huston, David Lean, Elia Kazan, Marlon Brando and Katherine Hepburn.

Sam Spiegel fled the specter of Nazi Germany in 1933 to become the most enigmatic and controversial film producer in the history of Hollywood, the equal of Selznick, Goldwyn, Zanuck and Mayer. He is the only person to win three Oscars as sole producer on a feature film, for On The Waterfront (1954), The Bridge on the River Kwai (1957) and Lawrence of Arabia (1962).  He also produced the iconic film The African Queen with Humphrey Bogart and Katherine Hepburn (1951).

Spiegel was a pioneer of independent filmmaking whose movies stacked up dozens of Academy Awards. He was considered to be a storytelling producer who was passionate about the human spirit overcoming adversity, and chose complex plots that served a charismatic hero struggling against the world.  He had a refugee mentality, which fed his desire to survive irrespective of the difficulties he encountered and took great risks with producing in terms of the size of the production and its physical distance from Hollywood. For a number of years, Spiegel used SP Eagle as his professional name to avoid creditors and the authorities - he had a criminal record for passing bad cheques and, for a time, was an illegal immigrant to the US.

With the “Wages of Fear”, “Diabolique” and “Quay of the Goldsmiths”, Henri-Georges Clouzot is revealed as a master of suspense, turning human neuroses into a breath taking spectacle.

Although he influenced many major contemporary film-makers (Friedkin, Spielberg), Clouzot has been overlooked in France. Yet, he is a true author, with a unique vision of the world, bringing together successfully the French art of character analysis and the American art of great spectacle.
By looking more closely at the romanesque side of his work, one discovers an elusive man,  an inventive Jack-of-all-trades. Henri-Georges Clouzot’s portrait reveals a man of vision, an agitator, an artist in opposition to the system.

Dennis Berry revisits the story of her memories with Jean-Luc Godard and the great directors she knew, her memorable meeting with Serge Gainsbourg, and also, more recently, her singer career.
With a gaze halfway between mischief and severity, the New Wave's Danish muse embodied a new feminity – deeply linked with women's liberation.

Follow superstar Ava Gardner’s rise and fall. At the height of her glory in 1954 she had a tumultuous love life and a string of legendary movies behind her. But when she turned 28 she left the glitz and glamor to move to Madrid, a poor and repressed country in the iron vice of dictatorship.

It was a clash between the freedom embodied by the Hollywood diva and the Fascist oppression of General Franco’s regime, between the technicolor glamor and the black-and-white reality of an impoverished and backward Spain. Fourteen years of life there, of parties, booze, romance, and alegria.

The film sets out to probe the psychological and emotional quirks of this star who chose exile in the worst of places at the worst of times.
Her life, her career, and her loves would be changed forever.
