Filmed primarily in law offices and courts only steps away from the glittering lights of Las Vegas's famed Strip, Sin City Law reveals a different side of Las Vegas - a world of gang activity, homelessness, drugs and mob vendettas.

As Poncet, de Lestrade and director Remy Burkel scrutinize four recent murder cases, their cameras sit in on strategy sessions in the offices of the district attorney, observe moving conversations between the accused and their public defenders, and chronicle the trial as it unfolds in the courtroom. Like their other acclaimed films, Poncet and de Lestrade's raw, honest and suspenseful stories are as emotionally engaging as any high-quality TV drama, while also opening a window to the realities of crime and punishment in the United States.

Everywhere on the planet cities seem to pop up and grow, sometimes despite climatic or geographical conditions that seem impossible to live in. How do people acclimate to lead a normal life?

Follow Alexandra, a travel reporter, to meet those living in the most extreme cities of the world. The coldest, warmest, highest, most humid, etc. First stop in Yakutsk, Siberia and then La Paz in Bolivia,  to show the incredible adaptability of their inhabitants.
Some are extremely cold, others extremely hot, very high, very isolated or incredibly densely populated. The planet already has dozens of cities which, seen from our perspective, do not appear to be very appealing places to live. And yet, people like them and live in them, unaware that their daily life is a feat in itself.
Journalist Alexandra Alevêque will experience life in some of the most extreme cities in the world, living in each one long enough to learn about the locals' way of life.
What she brings back is an insight into humankind's incredible capacity to adapt and find behavioural and organisational solutions.
What do these unusual cities look like?
What is life like for their inhabitants?
What can we learn from them?

  • WHO'S AFRAID OF LADY CHATTERLEY?

In 1960, the British Crown sued the publishing house Penguin Books in order to ban D.H. Lawrence's “Lady Chatterley's Lover” – a graphic account of an aristocrat and her gamekeeper's carnal love.

For six days, prosecutors and lawyers discussed the literary qualities of a book that talks about sex without taboos, celebrates nature, and advocates harmony between beings.
To the often comical and even grotesque indignation of the prosecution are opposed the sincere pleas in favor of “Lady Chatterley's Lover”. The heart of a literary work will be scrutinized, from the intentions of its author – the son of a Midlands miner – to its social and political significance.
But how obscene is this brave literary endeavor to write sex as it is, in its naked truth? And what can we say about this depiction of nature with the same passion, as a metaphor for human sensuality?
Based on selected excerpts from the trial, the film offers to explore – free from its contemporary moral confines – what made Lady Chatterley a literary and popular myth that has gone above and beyond its century and borders. And since its trial in 1960 defused the scandal to reveal the true dimension of this work, the film seeks to reveal all its implications, the whole truth, its entire significance. It also enables us to assess its influence in today's society.

Pigalle in 2017 is like a city-world that repeats itself – triumphant gentrification and engulfing emptiness – while it also has been hailed as a magnificent locality from its inception; it is an incredibly mixed territory and a sort of creative and artistic anomaly within Paris’ framework.

Nowadays, Pigalle is called SoPi (for South Pigalle); the district has become a trademark. The hooker bars have become trendy cafés. We have kept the names and peeled everything else off. It could be Soho, or London, or anywhere. In the big cities, the hipsters’ reproduction of their business model and codes leads to an urban standardization that often excludes the poorer classes.
Through a unique movie installation (a pocket cinema on the main square) “Le Pigalle” will gather locals and witnesses of the district’s rich history. It will be like a furtive and popular cultural re-appropriation of the area.
Our film will tell the story of a square, a district, and a people like a vibrant convergence of Parisian culture. The pivotal moments of its transformation will be reenacted – the Trente Glorieuses, the 70s crisis, the 80s anguish, the gentrification from 2000 onwards – as a modern retelling of Pigalle’s vivid tale.

Who? When? How? Why? This series immerses us in the chaos at the dark heart of crime fiction, taking us on journey through the labyrinthine workings of the whodunnit, with many a shudder along the way.

Nowadays, one published novel in four is a "roman noir", a "thriller" or a "detective story". How did crime fiction come to be so popular that it is now a universal language everyone can understand?

Through interviews with present-day creators of crime fiction, Part 1 of Anatomy of Crime Fiction analyses the fateful trio of the victim, the murderer and the detective, piecing together a profile of the 3 emblematic figures who provide the starting-point for all good whodunnits, while Parts 2 and 3 explore locations and plots.

The series sets out not only to inform and compare, but also to promote reflection on traditional practices and new developments - some of which are immediately accepted, and some of which meet fierce resistance - in all areas of family life - the last bastion of our national cultures and identities. It covers a wide range of themes, from pre-school education and language learning to abortion and who does the housework.
